At Badger Creek Fly Tying, we've always been the fore front of all the really interesting fly tying trends. For years, we've located the best there is to offer and with the increased interst in competition fly fishing and Euro style nymphing, we've located some great items for you. Many of these are quite unique and I suspect you won't be able to locate these any place else! Instead of looking all over the web for stuff, we everything you need right here! Many of the items listed in the recent George Daniel book are listed below.

Dynamic Nymphing by George Daniel This is a great book that offers lots of how to's. Included in this book are methods for rigging, leaders and leader design, casting and presentations. There is a section of flies with many unqiue and interesting patterns from members of the Team USA Fly Fishing Team. Excellent photos and descriptions. Prices: $40.00

Sighters, Strike Indicators, Coiled Indicators and Micro Rings

One of the most interesting methods from competition fishing is the use of "sighters" and coiled strike indicatores. This is a fine diameter mono that is dyed bright colors. There are several ways to use this. First is the "sighter". With this method you cut a leader and insert a section of material into the leader butt. More often you use a short coarse leader and tie a length of sighter to the end and then attach tippets to the other end. Another method is to use a coiled indicator. With this method the bright or bi-color ( 2 colors ) indicator materials is wrapped around a small dowel, inserted into boiling water and immediately inserted into ice water, thus locked the coils into place. Tippet rings are attached to each end and the is inserted into the upper section of a leader.

Climax Tippet Rings: These are small micro chrome colored rings There is a larger size and small size. The larger size is for making coiled indicators and the smaller one is for setting up mult- fly rigs. Tippet rings also make it easier to attach fine tippets without clipping leaders so much. 10 pieces in a pack. Small or Large: Price; $8.00

Jan Siman's Micro Tippet Rings: Imported from the Czech Republic, this is the real stuff used on fly rigs in Competition fishing. These are micro rings that are black nickle. These are ideal for making sighters, coil indicators and making Euro nymph rigs. 10 pieces per pack. Size 1.6 mm. Black only. Price: $8.00

Jan Siman's Coil Strike Indictor: Original designs imported from the Czech republic, this is a pre-made bi-color indicator. Just tie in and you are ready to fish. This is a very clever way to catch fish and works in very low, clear water. As a fish grabs your hook the leader streches out and you have a fish on! Quite fine the interior is about the size of a match stick. About 2-3" long. Has micro rings attached. If you have never made a coiled indicator, get a few as samples, much smaller than you expect.

Price: $16.00/pack of 2

Cortland Competition Nymph Line: This is a nice line, has a fine core perfect for high sticking and Euro Nymphing. The thin core is much more sensitive than traditional flylines, allowing you to identify strikes. The fine tip diameter and elongated front tapers allow light rigs to be cast with pinpoint accuracy and prevent the line from dragging. This is a hot line in Euro. Perfect for long rods.
